Hastings

Busy week this week, going to be in Hastings again today and on Thursday and Friday. Looking forward to Thursday as I’m planning on exploring Battle with my camera, should be good.
I still need to go through all the photos from my last visit to Hastings, months ago. Here is a sneak peak:

Selsey

Continuing the quiet, empty beach exploration this month, Selsey (south of Chichester) was next on the list and was visited last Saturday afternoon. Although the southerly point of the peninsula has wide, uninterrupted panoramic views of the sea it was the easterly beaches and Pagham Harbour that were the most beautiful landscapes with wide seascapes [...]

Dungeness

After a long time spent at the top of my mental must visit list (which is long), I was lucky enough to finally go and explore the wonderful beaches and headland of Dungeness on Sunday. Stark landscapes, empty shingle beaches, expansive seascapes, moody skies, old rusted engines, rotten wood boats, old nuclear power stations, pylons, [...]

Southwold

Will be going back up to Southwold in Suffolk this weekend, the last visit was back in January. Hoping for some warm, dry weather as a contrast to the wet storms last time.

Another Sunrise

Saturday morning I woke up at 4am and was unable to go back to sleep so I went out to the beach again on my bike, this time with tripod and bulb/cable shutter, hoping to catch the sunrise. It turned out to be overcast so there were no nice colours in the sky but it [...]

5am Beachlife

After a long night’s drinking a friend and I decided to stay up and cycle to the beach to catch the sunrise. As the sun peaked over the easterly clouds the colours were amazing, the streets and beach empty and the sea surprisingly warm. Plus we saw a fox down at the water’s edge too, [...]

Hamble Walk

About a week ago I went for a walk around Hamble, which is a small village near Southampton that nestles between the sea, a river and woodland. I only managed half the walk which followed an unused railway track through woods down to an oil refinery, then down through the common to the beach then [...]

Sky Before

Before the snow started on Sunday we went for a short walk down on East Preston beach in West Sussex. The beach is very quiet with no adjoining roads and despite the (correct) predictions of heavy snow the sun and the sky were bright. Within an hour the snow had begun.

Snowy Beach

it snowed last night so this morning I went for a walk on the empty, snowy beach for a bit, taking some photos. You don’t often get snow settling in Southsea because the sea keeps the temperature a little higher so it’s unusual to see the beach covered in snow.

Winter Coast

The beach walking trip to Suffolk was amazing, beautiful light, sky, sea and the coastline all doused with wintery cold, wind and rain. Lots of photos to sort through, but for now here is one from Dunwich Beach as a rain storm approached from the horizon.
