Love Life

New Tweaker

Tweaker Zine just had a big update, lots of good stuff in there including a Folio by SF homie and awesome photographer John Dragonette, an interview with Will Harmon, an article on Todd Francis' new exhibition, an amazing feature on the Arctic Circle and lots of other good stuff. Also there is a feature on the Tweaker Freaker show where you can check out all of the photography and artwork that's on display.

I was stoked to be able to have a photo used for the cover and the contents, both from the recent SF trip.

Fireworks Night

I had fun up on the hill overlooking the city earlier this week shooting B&W film of the fireworks display for Guy Fawkes night. I don't often use my bulb trigger and tripod so I was looking forward to seeing how the 5 second or so exposures would turn out considering the light pollution and drizzly weather.

Life of Sundays

Polaroids

I managed to source a couple of boxes of Polaroid instant film before leaving for San Francisco, it was nice to capture the city using that format film. I'm trying to get hold of another pack of 20 in the next few days, my fingers are crossed considering how difficult it is to find reasonably priced Polaroid film these days since they discontinued it.

The opening of the Tweaker Zine show Tweaker Freaker in Slam City went really well, it was a great turnout and everyone seemed really stoked on all of the work. Check the Tweaker Freaker website for a detailed list of contributors plus check out Vetika too, they'll soon have loads of classic UK skate photos available as high quality prints.

Some photos from the opening night are up on the Tweaker Blog, Vetika's Flickr, Gorm's Flickr, Jake's Alley and Curb Debris if you want a good look at the evening's goings on.

The show is on until the middle of November so if you are in central London it's well worth a visit.

San Francisco

Got back from San Francisco on Monday, needless to say 10 days of sunshine, the city, friends, skateboarding and photography was amazing. I got a few films back from the lab yesterday and will be hand developing the rest at some point this week. I also shot a bunch of polaroids for the first time in a while, will post some of those and some more of the film photos very soon.

P.S. It's Tweaker Freaker tonight (Tweaker Zine's photography and art exhibition in Slam City in London). I have some photos up on the wall and I'll be there from 6:30pm to 8ish, hope to see you there.

Off Again

Tweaker Freaker

Tweaker Zine is having a photography and artwork exhibition in Slam City in London, opening on Thursday October 16th. I'll be contributing some photos as will loads of people who have contributed to Tweaker in it's first year and who will be contributing in the near future. Check the Tweaker Freaker website for all the details and the (growing) list of people who will be showing work. With a bit of luck we might have some free beer on the opening night so try and make it up/down, it's going to be good.

Chichester Harbour Photo Comp

If you are out and about in Chichester today or Saturday there is a photo exhibit with all the entries to the Chichester Harbour photo competition, in which I have 3 prints. The exhibit is at the Old Court Room, North Street, Chichester (also known as the Assembly Rooms). Entry is free and the exhibition is open each day from 10am - 4pm. The judges are going around this morning before it opens, cross your fingers for me.

Smena 8M

I picked up another new camera the other week, a Russian Smena 8M. Whilst on a sunny day bike ride around Southsea and Portsmouth Harbour I shot a roll of slide film to cross-process then opened the back before winding it back. Really happy with the results...

Blueprint & Document's Big Push

Every summer Document Magazine rounds up the best UK skate teams for a week and sets them off in vans to skate and film under the name of The Big Push. At the end of the week the teams put the footage together in to edits which are then released on DVD with the special Big Push edition of the magazine. This year I was stoked to contribute to Blueprint's edit by providing all the still photography. I'm working with Blueprint on something else at the moment, more news on that later on down the line. For now, watch the Blueprint edit and then hop over to Document TV and watch the other team's edits. I'm particularly stoked on Alan Glass's Landscape edit and good friends The Harmony's edit too but all are awesome and worthy of wasting Friday time on.

Tweaker 1st Birthday

I'm very stoked to say Tweaker Zine had it's first birthday the other day. Gorm, French and I are really pleased on how things have developed over the last 12 months and are looking forward to the next 12. Gorm was kind enough to let me pick a photo for the cover, it's a Holga shot I took a couple of years ago now, dropping a stone in the puddle to create the ripples. I've also got some hand developed photos from a recent skate day in Southsea in there too but that's nothing compared with the rest of the content including interviews, a mountain of awesome photos, Slam City promo video and lots of other stuff, take a peek, it's worth a look.

New Camera

I recently got a test roll of film back from the lab which I shot with a Halina 35X which I got off eBay for next to nothing. It's a beautiful, little, heavy, fully manual camera that I'm looking forward to using more often. Here are some photos from that roll of film:

Document Mag & +1 Mag Portfolio Article

Very stoked to have a portfolio article in this month's Document Magazine, it'll also appear in the free +1 magazine too. The photos are in the Winter gallery to the left and were shot on a continuous multiple exposure roll of medium format film with my Holga camera. Cheers to Sam and the guys at the Mags.

Colour Film, B&W Chemicals

Took a drive up to Portsdown Hill that overlooks Portsmouth Harbour last Friday, I wanted to try something different for 08/08/08 so I shot a roll of colour film and then developed it using my normal B&W chemicals. Some interesting results. I'm going back up there soon with my new zoom lens and see what I can see from that perspective.
