Tweaker Zine
My friend gorm and I have been working away for the last few weeks on a new project, an online skate and photography zine called 'tweaker' which features a load of great collaborators too. It went live yesterday and seems to be going down well. I was stoked to put together an interview with friend and long time influence Isaac McKay-Randozzi for the launch. Isaac's polaroid film and half-frame photography is awesome and it was great to get some old and new photos off Isaac for the zine.

Dan Wood
First up, let's get this out of the way, I'm a huge fan of Dan Wood. Coming out of South Wales with thousands of miles travelled around the world under his belt, a curious eye, a deep love of light and shadow and chemical fingers from a true understanding of the darkroom...he is a real photographer's photographer. Capturing life by chance and recording it with purity and honesty from the point of exposure on film with natural light to birthing prints from the tank by hand, then throwing skateboarding into the mix...you have something rather special. Check Dan Wood Photography Studio and Dan's Flickr yourself for the evidence.

Tim Leighton Boyce
My first and still one of my all time favourite photographers is the venerable Tim Leighton Boyce, in some way's he could be described as the British J. Grant Brittain but in many way's he is so much more. Famous for editing and supplying iconic photography for RAD magazine back in the mid-to-late 80s and early 90s and then the infamous but short lived Phat magazine, Tim not only photographed skateboarding across the UK, he united it and almost single handedly kept it alive in it's darkest years in the wilderness of the early 80s. Beyond that he honestly represented the growth, vitality and creativity of skateboarding in the early 90s...few people have a magazine banned from WH Smiths! Humble and modest to a fault, the documented travels of Tim's decade long visits to not only cities but the random market towns and villages all over the country brought the UK scene together, building connections, giving props and ultimately recording skateboarding in it's purest form. Nobody has or will come close.
I was lucky to hangout for a while with Tim the other day and badger him with a million fanboy questions and chew the fat over skateboarding then and now and was stoked to see Tim still has a camera with him every day and is still taking beautiful photos. Check Tim's Flickr account for some old and new gold and also When We Was Rad for a mountain of photographic goodness from the old RAD magazine vaults.
